When designing this eagle, the phrase “purple mountain majesty” wouldn’t leave my head, so I leaned into it. Instead of a traditional palette, this piece is set against layered purple “mountains” within a forest setting, giving it a slightly surreal, dramatic backdrop.
Built from 195 individual pieces of stained glass, each one hand cut, ground, foiled, and soldered, with painted details to bring out depth and structure across the form.
The habitat is constructed entirely by hand, with every rock shaped and painted individually. Using my taxidermy background, the environment is designed to enhance the glass, not compete with it, so the colors and composition read as one cohesive piece.
