This striking set is made from 138 individual pieces of stained glass, each one hand-traced, cut, ground, foiled, and soldered. Painted and sealed details are added to bring out depth and definition throughout the piece.
Perched on dark cliffside bases, the deep tones of the habitat create a strong contrast against the warm glass. Each bookend is entirely handmade. Drawing from my taxidermy background, I build every habitat to work with the glass, not against it, so the entire piece reads as one cohesive composition.
Every rock is individually formed and painted by hand to match and enhance the tones of the glass.
