Black Quilt Skull

$185.00

This one of a kind mosaic cow skull is built on a naturally found deadhead that was ethically collected and thoroughly cleaned. The exterior is surfaced in hand cut black glass, chosen for its subtle sparkle and depth. In direct light, the surface shifts from matte darkness to quiet flashes of reflection, revealing movement within what initially appears solid.

The interior tells a different story. A quilt like field of dichroic glass fills the inner cavity, composed of small, varied fragments arranged in a patchwork of color and texture. As light enters the skull, the interior transforms. Colors shift, surfaces glow, and the piece reveals layers that are not visible at first glance.

This work is about what is taken, broken, and worn, and what can be made from it. Fractured materials are brought together deliberately, not hidden or smoothed over, but arranged with care. The contrast between the dark, weathered exterior and the luminous interior speaks to endurance, repair, and the quiet beauty that emerges through reassembly.

Designed as a wall mounted or table top sculptural piece, this skull changes throughout the day as light moves across and through it, offering a different experience depending on where you stand.
